Not long left ?

This is an oldish photo of a lovely little chap called Buttons. When he was 4 years old he became ill and an Xray revealed a large abdominal tumour that could not be removed.
He was prescribed steroid tablets (for the rest of his life) and was given about 6 weeks to live.
This photo was taken 6 YEARS later and Buttons was still going strong. I split up with my boyfriend and, during the split, Buttons started to go downhill. I couldn’t take him with me as I was moving into short-term rented accommodation; also I wanted my cats to stay in their home (my boyfriend and I had a fairly good sized farmhouse with outbuildings and land which the cats loved).
I left the house and never saw Buttons or my other 5 cats again. My ex wouldn’t allow contact of any kind, so I couldn’t even ask how the cats were.
I didn’t really care about losing my home, but the pain of losing my cats never leaves me 😦

I’ve been rumbled but I don’t care (says Shower)

image

Shower has been a bit nappy recently. I think it may be due to discomfort in one or both hind fetlock joints, as he did have a slight problem as a yearling.
My friend sent a message saying that he was intelligent and was probably just testing my resolve. She could be right, of course, so I showed the message to Shower and this was his response (see photo!!)

My book on Kindle !!

image

I’m not a professional writer but I wrote this book following endless requests. It’s a true story (mine!) but I’ve changed all the names to preserve the anonymity of those concerned. I hope that readers will find it interesting. It’s not all doom and gloom – there were many funny moments, particularly as the story progressed.
The behaviour (both good and awful) of the police, and the limitations of the mental health system are exposed in the book. I hope that it provides some insight into what goes on in these organisations. My reason for writing this book isn’t to make money – I really do feel that it’s important to publicise such incidents because knowledge is power, and is the way to change the system, and therefore lives, for the better.
I received a criticism on WordPress that the book cover wasn’t very inviting. This did occur to me during publication but I couldn’t come up with an image that I felt conveyed the contents of the book. The most suitable cover was one of darkness and emptiness. If you read the book, I think that you’ll understand. The book is published on CreateSpace so I can’t change the cover unless I publish a second edition.
I’ll be doing a book promotion in July. Unfortunately Kindle won’t allow another promotion until my next Kindle Select period.

100 years old

I took this photograph in July 2006 for our village calendar. The lady standing outside her lovely house, which was originally a hunting lodge, celebrated her 100th birthday in the September of that year.
I think that she was pleased to be a ‘Calendar Girl’ – not a common occurrence at her age!
She threw her walking stick violently into the air, because she didn’t want it in the picture and it nearly hit me!
